I am excited to share that I have recently become a Level 2 attuned Usui Reiki practitioner, which allows me to deepen the healing energy I channel and bring even more transformative support to my clients. Reiki is a beautiful, ancient Japanese healing modality that promotes relaxation, balance, and holistic wellness by using the universal life force energy.
Origins of Reiki
Reiki was developed in the early 20th century by Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist, who rediscovered this natural healing technique after years of study and meditation. The word “Reiki” combines two Japanese words: “Rei” meaning “universal” or “spirit,” and “Ki” meaning “life force energy.” Essentially, Reiki means “universal life energy.”
Reiki practitioners are attuned through a sacred process called an attunement, which opens their energy channels, allowing them to connect to this universal healing energy and channel it through their hands to themselves or others.
How Reiki Works
Reiki works on the principle that everything is energy—including our physical body and emotions. When our energy system is balanced and flowing freely, we experience vitality and well-being. When energy becomes blocked or depleted, it can manifest as physical illness, emotional distress, or spiritual disconnection.
During a Reiki session, the practitioner gently places their hands on or just above the client’s body in a series of positions. The Reiki energy flows through the practitioner and into the client, promoting deep relaxation and activating the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
Benefits of Reiki
Reiki offers numerous benefits on multiple levels — physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. Some of the most common benefits include:
Deep Relaxation & Stress Reduction: Reiki helps calm the nervous system and ease tension, allowing the body to enter a state of deep rest.
Pain Relief: Many people experience relief from chronic pain, headaches, or injuries as Reiki supports physical healing.
Emotional Balance: Reiki can help release emotional blockages, reduce anxiety and depression, and foster a sense of inner peace.
Improved Sleep: The relaxation and stress reduction from Reiki often lead to better sleep quality.
Enhanced Spiritual Connection: Reiki encourages alignment with your higher self and can support spiritual awakening and personal growth.
Increased Energy Flow: By clearing blocked energy, Reiki revitalizes your body’s natural energy flow and vitality.
What to Expect in a Reiki Session with Me
Each Reiki session I offer begins with setting intentions and creating a peaceful, safe environment for healing. The session usually lasts between 60 to 90 minutes. You’ll be comfortably lying down while I gently place my hands on or just above your body in various positions.
Many clients report feeling warmth, tingling, or deep waves of relaxation. It’s common to experience emotional release or profound insights during or after the session. Afterward, we take time to reflect on your experience and discuss ways to support your continued healing journey.
Preparing for Your Reiki Session
To get the most from your Reiki session:
Wear comfortable clothing
Arrive with an open mind and heart
